Belva June Schmidt went home to be with her Lord Monday evening, May 31, at 10:13pm. She left this world peacefully surrounded by love from her family.

June has been battling physical illness for the last 3 years and her family rallied together to care for her. She leaves behind a small, but close-knit family who has been devastated by the loss of their matriarch. She leaves behind four children, Dana Throgmorton of Fort Smith AR, Melody Smith of Fort Smith AR, Todd Smith of Pangburn AR and Julie Blair from Barling AR; Son-in-law Ricky Throgmorton, sister Peggy Chism, 10 grandkids and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Mother Mattie Ila Bess. The most important thing in June’s life was her family. She loved nothing more than family gatherings and visits from any of her family members. She was especially happy when her great-grandson Emerson Gray came for a visit these last few months and just giggled happily when any of the little grands were around. Her daughters Dana, Melody and Julie spent tireless hours caring for their sickly Mom these past three years and her grandkids help was invaluable to her daughters and to June and Peggy. June was a woman who loved her Jesus and often looked to Him for comfort during her illness. She was very close to her sister Peggy, who she has shared a home with the past 25 years. Her loyalty to Peggy was unmatched and those two ladies have been taking care of each other their entire lives. June will be missed immensely and will never be forgotten.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, AR. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Family will greet friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
