Kathryn Ritchie Green Adams was born on July 25, 1919 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and died May 13, 2011 in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Green, who was killed in World War II, her second husband, Harry Adams, who died in 1988 and her brother, Scott Ritchie. She is survived by one sister, Linda Francine Ritchie Droke of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Judith McClain of Little Rock, AR and Leigh Adams of Houston, TX and her husband, Paul Guinn; three grandsons, John McClain of Portland, OR and his wife, Ria, and their children, Cheyenne, Francis, and Theo; Scott McClain of Austin, TX and his wife, Normandie, and their children Pilar, Nolan, and Caleb; and Paul Guinn, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX and his wife, Dorelie, and their daughters, Ashley and Kaitlyn and his son Elijah of Gillette, WY.
While Kay was in Fort Smith she was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith and Trinity Episcopal Church in Van Buren. She loved parties, dancing and singing; was a fabulous cook and a life-long, devoted member of the Republican Party.
In 1998 Kay moved to Houston to live with Leigh and Paul who provided her with some of the best years of her life surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and new friends. The little ones loved her and began to affectionately call her Mama Kay. She then became Mama Kay to everyone who knew her. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
A graveside service will be held,on Friday, June 17th at 11AM, at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
