
Larry Don Linder passed away at age 94 on July 10, 2024, in the hospice unit at Mercy Hospital Fort Smith. He was born February 5, 1930 in Greenwood, Mississippi, the third and youngest son of Bernard William and Marie Westbrook Linder.
He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School, BSBA from the University of Arkansas and an MBA, also from the University of Arkansas, and he was a certified public accountant.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy., and he worked for many years at Arkansas Best Corp. (now ArcBest), retiring as VP and Comptroller, then later served as CFO, and then CEO, for Trans-States Lines.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and as a trustee.
Other community activities included membership in the Rotary Club of Fort Smith, serving on the Salvation Army Board, and being a volunteer at the Fort Smith Public Library.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bernard Westbrook Linder and John Walker Linder, and by grandson, Andrew James McDonald.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Patsy Malone Linder; children, Cathy (Jim) McDonald, and Drew (Paula) Linder, and grandchildren, Betsy (Chris) Borecky, Katie McDonald, and Patrick Linder; and great-grandchild, Clara Borecky.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
