Leanne Denton Alexander

Leanne Denton Alexander, 67, of Fort Smith, died December 15, 2014 in Fort Smith. She was born April 14, 1947 in Fort Smith to Douglas Lee “Bill” and Erma Pauline Moore Denton. She was a member of the Woodlands Methodist Church. She was very athletic and loved to swim, play tennis, ride horses, play bridge and watch/coach the Razorbacks. She was a former head cheerleader and Homecoming Queen at Northside High School, and head cheer leader at Arkansas Tech University. She rode for the Fort Smith Quadrille and was a former Miss Rodeo Fort Smith. She was a Physical Education teacher for the Fort Smith School District and co-owner of Yesteryears Holiday Shoppe. She was a certified drug and alcohol counselor which was her passion. She retired last year from the Sebastian County Drug Court and had previously worked for Gateway House and the Crawford County Drug Court. She is survived by one daughter Kindal Alexander Reynolds and husband Dave of Siloam Springs, AR; one son, Charles (Chad) Lee Alexander and wife Elizabeth of Princeton, TX; one sister, Sandi Denton DeVore of Norman, OK; seven grandchildren, Abby Gross, Robby Gross, Riley Gross, Sara Reynolds, Garyn Alexander, Charles Lee Alexander, II, and Emma Dickerson; and Friend and Caregiver Fritz Lemons of Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Pauline Denton; one brother, Charles Denton, and son Trey Alexander. Memorial service will be Monday, December 22, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Services and Cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Miller, Nancy & Doss Reynolds, Frank Farmer, Broxine & Brad Kidder, Sr., Jo Jensen, Debi Routh, Kim Kidder, and John Johnson. The family will greet friends 2:00 PM Monday prior to the Memorial Service.
