

Leonard Collins Turner passed away from this life on March 2, 2014. He was born in Spring Hill, Arkansas on September 3, 1930 to Morris and Eunice Turner. Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Peterson Turner. He is also survived by his children Judy Turner Hurst, Len M. Turner, and Leon H. Turner. As well as seven grandchildren: Charles L. Hurst, Priscilla Hurst Griggs, Robert Lane Turner, Lydia Turner, Leigh Turner, Ty Turner, Addison Turner, and two great-grandchildren: Chelsea Hurst and James Finley Griggs. Other family members include Charles Hurst, Cynthia Turner, Elaine Turner, Abby Hartmeier, Tiffany Bray, James Griggs, and Jordan Griggs. After graduating from Spring Hill High School at age 17, Leonard went to work in the oil and gas industry. He also was an active member of the Army Reserves for 2 years. After moving to Ft. Smith in 1968 he founded Turner Service and Equipment and ran it successfully for 45 years. During this time, Leonard was also a 32nd degree Mason in Ft Smith and attended Wesley Methodist Church. Services will be held at Wesley Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2:00pm. Leonard will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Charles Hurst, James Griggs, Lane Turner, Ty Turner, Russell Birdsong and David Nauman . Honorary pallbearer will be Gene Carver.
