

Lillian Kropp, age 72, passed away Tuesday afternoon at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center. She was a long time teacher of Advance Placement English at Southside High School. She attended the University of Tulsa and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Stephen's College. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Faculty Consultant for the Educational Testing Service, and a Workshop Consultant for the College Board.
Lillian has been recognized many times in her career including being named "Outstanding English Teacher of the Southwest Region of the College Board". She traveled three times to the White House to receive the Presidential Scholar Program's Distinguished Teacher Award from Presidents Reagan, George HW Bush and George W Bush.
She was a sustaining member of Junior League of Fort Smith, and a past member of the Area Counsel of Associations of Junior Leagues.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She has served on the Church Vestry, Altar Guild and as Outreach Chairman.
She is survived by her Husband, Bill Kropp II of Fort Smith, two children, Bill Kropp III and wife Donna of Fort Smith, and Alison Thieben and husband Charles of Springfield, IL; and two grandchildren, Christi and Katie Thieben of Illinois. She has two surviving brothers, John Bell Jr. and Jimmy Bell both of Fort Smith.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 4:00 pm. in St. John’s Episcopal Church located at 215 North Sixth Street • Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901 under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
A reception celebrating the life of Lillian will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. John's Next Step Day Room, Sack Lunch Program, or the Good Samaritan Clinic.
