

Louise D. Mays-Burris, 90, of Fort Smith, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 25, 2011. Her passing is a great loss but a blessing in heaven. She was born January 2, 1921 in Sparkman, AR to William and Cordelia Hamm Dickey. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Van Buren and she was a retired cosmetologist after many years of service in Malvern, AR.
She is survived by her husband, Elum Burris of Van Buren; one son, Larry Mays and wife Erma of Van Buren; two granddaughters, Marsha Crow and husband David of Marble City, OK. and Angelia Klaproth and husband Bert of Bakersfield, CA; two grandsons, Reverend Rick Mays and wife Clair of Arkadelphia, AR and Tim Mays and wife Deena of Van Buren; eleven great grandchildren, Robert Crow, Andrew Crow and wife Mary, Caleb Mays, Jessica Wooden and husband Jake, Colten, Joshua, and Spencer Mays, Tony, Dalton, Tyler, and Hailey Klaproth; one great great grandson, Levi. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.L. Mays, daughter, Launelda Baker, brother, Harvey Dickey, sisters, Jean Schwitzer and Virginia Parker, and her parents William and Cordelia Dickey.
Funeral service will be Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her six great grandsons, Robert, Andrew, Caleb, Colten, Joshua, and Spencer.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM.
