Sister Lucita Barthes

Sr. Mary Lucita Barthes RSM who lived at McAuley Convent in Barling AR died Sunday, January 30, 2011. She was baptized Mary Rita Barthes. She is preceded in death by her parents Patrick James and Lucille Henrietta Barthes and Sisters, Julia Dearmon, Cleo Barthes Dopson, Nona Barthes Hill, Lucille Barthes Le Febvre She was born in 1931 in Biloxi. She entered the Sisters of Mercy at Webster Groves in St. Louis MO September 8th, 1948.
Rosary will be 9:30am Wednesday February 2, 2011 at McAuley Convent Chapel in Barling, AR. Funeral will be 10:30am Wednesday February 2, 2011 at McAuley Convent Chapel with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Sister taught schools in Mississippi from 1951 to 1968. She then did office work in Mercy Hospital in Vicksburg, MS. Sr. retired at McAuley Home in Vicksburg in 1986. In December of 1999 moved to our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in New Orleans, LA. She moved to McAuley Convent in Barling Arkansas in September 2005.
Sister is survived by two nephews Larry Dearmon and Mike Dopson, and two nieces Kathryn Tomoschik and Lauren Christovich.

I have fond memories of Sister Lucita. I was a nursing student ay Mercy Hospital when I met her.Such a kind loving person.My deepest sympathy.

Lucita was one of the most gentle people I have ever met. Not once did I hear her complain about her physical problems. She always had her gentle smile even when there was pain in her eyes. Rest in peace, my friend.

Sister Lucita taught me in high school in Vicksburg. She was a lovely woman who cared about students and was the epitome of kindness. My deepest sympathies.
