Maria Ortiz, resident of Fort Smith, AR passed away in her home after a brief illness on April 30, 2018 at the age of 85 years. She was born on February 11, 1933 in Mosonszolnok, Hungary. Maria arrived in New York in 1963 with her husband Hector and their family. She retired in Fort Smith in 1972 with her family after her husband’s retirement from his 30 year of Military Career.
She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family, daughters, Marianne Roscoe and Evelin Davis; son, Hector Mathews Ortiz; granddaughters, Maria Renee Molina and Christina Davis; great grandsons, Eric Guzman-Molina and Collin McNeill; great granddaughter, Charlotte Hawkins; and sisters, Annie Reichle and Elisabeth Raimund who are residents of Germany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector Ortiz; and grandson, Daniel Molina.
Viewing will be Thursday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Friday at the U.S. National Cemetery Pavilion with burial to follow under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
