Funeral Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas and will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Odell Curtis and Reverend John Wait officiating. Interment will follow at Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith
Visitation will be held on Saturday prior to the Funeral from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm at the Funeral Home.
Marie was born on March 10, 1922 in the Jenny Lind Community. She was the daughter of George and
Charlotte (Martin) McKinney. She married Richard Joseph Resch on July 25, 1940 in Fort Smith. Marie was a homemaker and the towns best hamburger cook. She cooked in various “hamburger joints” around town for many years. She loved cooking Sunday Dinner for her family. She crocheted many different items for family and friends. She loved her family and babysitting her grandchildren. Her grandchildren called her Meme, and she was known throughout the community as “granny resch”.
Marie is survived by one daughter, Frances Nevels and her husband, Loyd of Van Buren, Arkansas; one son, Nelson Resch and his wife, Paula of Milltown, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Resch Fowler and husband, Roy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Charlotte McKinney; her loving husband of 48 years, Richard Resch; one son, Harlan Resch; one grandson, Randall Lee Resch. Marie was the last of sixteen children to pass away.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Resch will be Robbie Foldvary, Joe Spinas, Cody Foldvary, Zach Cole, Chase Cole, and Josh Tedder. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Grissom, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
