

Mary Ileen Hicks was born in Mound City, Missouri on April 15, 1922 to David and Rena Loucks. She passed away with a smile on her face and joy in her heart on October 17, 2013 at the age of 91 after a short illness. Mary Ileen married the love of her life, L.T. Hicks, in 1942, and they shared 65 years together. She was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church in Tulsa, but had been attending First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith since moving to Fort Smith in 2011. She was a resident of The Brookfield Assisted Living. Mary Ileen loved to cook, crochet, travel, raise flowers and house plants. She and L. T. were long-time members of the Wally Byum Airstream Club and traveled extensively. Mary Ileen was preceded in death by her husband, L.T., and her 2 sisters, Alyce Loucks and Elsie Loucks Officer. She is survived by her son, Dr. David Hicks and wife Lynne of St. Charles, IL, her daughter Cheryl and husband Dr. Ron Powell of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Ross Powell and wife Jennifer of Fayetteville, Scott Powell and wife Joy of Plano, TX, Ryan Hicks of Fort Wayne, IN, Chad Hicks and wife Elizabeth of Indianapolis, IN, and Jennifer Marquette and husband Daniel of Peoria, IL, and great grandchildren, Chloe and Lily Powell of Plano, TX, Fletcher Powell of Fayetteville and Harry Hicks of Indianapolis. Services will be in Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church, Fort Smith at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Rodger Lefler of Tulsa. The family will be present for visitation at Edwards Funeral Home Friday evening from 5-7. Graveside service and internment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
