Mary Theresa Maestri, 91, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 in Fort Smith. She was born November 2, 1929 to Robert and Louise Reith. She was a graduate from Saint Scholastica and was a secretary at Immaculate Conception Elementary School and retired after more than 20 years. She was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph “Buddy” Maestri, Jr.; four sisters, Louise Wewers (Lawrence), Gertrude Eckart (Vincent), Rose Bontemps, Ann Farr (Buck); one brother, William Reith (Kathryn); and one daughter-in-law Anne Maestri.
She is survived by three daughters, Julia Newman (Harold) of Lavaca, Joyce LaBounty (Shawn) of Paonia, CO, Janice Austin (Marty) of Lavaca; five sons, Robert Maestri of Fort Smith, Stephen Maestri (Christine) of Van Buren, Edward Maestri (Lezlie) of Fort Smith, Joseph Maestri III (Twana) of Fort Smith, Michael Maestri (Holly) of Fort Smith; two brothers, Anton Reith (Rosemary) of Fort Smith, Robert Reith (Mary) of Fort Smith; a brother-in-law, Wallace Bontemps of Tacoma, WA; twenty-two grandchildren, Aaron (Whitney), Sarah (Jayce), Bridgette (Anthony), Laurel, Taylor, Ryan (Charisse), Nick (Tiffany), Kyle (Racquel), Meredith (Michael), Casey (Scott), Chris (Morgan), Mallory (Cody), Caleb, Jacob (Kennedy), Olivia (Allen), Emily, Eric, Hannah (Elliot), Max, Ella, Abby, James; nine great grandchildren, Sophie, Greyson, Luca, Harper, Aiden, Nico, Parker, Elliott Anne, and Aiden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N 12th St, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Rosary will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
