Maurice A. Carter, 89, of Fort Smith, passed away, on November 26th, 2011. He was born on September 4th, 1922, to the late William T. and Hazel Reed Carter, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Mr. Carter was an Air Force veteran of World War II, and the retired owner of Carter Truck Lines. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Seekers Bible Study. He was also a member, of the Thursday Noon Bible Study, and the Noon Exchange Club.
Mr. Carter is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Thelma, of the home. He has two sons, Cris Carter and his wife Carolyn, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Keith Carter and his wife Shannon, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He also has four grandchildren, Chad, Blake, Beth, and Brandon, and four great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held, at 10am, in the Roebuck Chapel, at First United Methodist Church, on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011. The Reverend David Orr and, The Reverend Janice Sudbrink will be officiating.
The family will be receiving friends, at Edwards Funeral Home, between the hours of 5pm and 6:30 pm, on Monday, November 28th, 2011.
