Michael Paul Skidmore, 79, of Van Buren, AR, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was born on August 22, 1946, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Harvey Paul Skidmore and Ethyl Skidmore. He was preceded in death by his brother Bill Skidmore. Mike, as he was known to his family and friends, was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 8845, where he served multiple times as Post Commander, as well as serving as District Commander. He was a member of American Legion Post 31, a Freemason and a member of the Scottish Rite. Mike was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Skidmore, of the home; five daughters, Tina Skidmore Nicks of Wilmington, NC, Tara Johnston of Fort Smith, Kara Schulgen (John) of Van Buren, and Laney Skidmore and Ava Skidmore, also of the home; three sons, Amos Skidmore (Jamie) of Clarksville, AR, Sean Knapple (Chelsea) of Pocola, OK, and Michael Skidmore of Van Buren; three brothers, Maurice Skidmore of Buckeye, AZ, Tom Skidmore of South Korea, and David Skidmore (Melissa) of Manhattan, KS. Mike is also survived by his grandchildren: Rylie, Chase, Preslie, Brinley, Ryan, Caleb and Isaac.
There will be a Memorial Graveside Service held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Committal Shelter of the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
