Michael William Cannedy, 66, of Alma, passed from this life on July 12, 2021. He was born May 31, 1955 at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda to Denzil and Marjorie Cannedy. Mike graduated from Mulberry High School in 1973 and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served six years active duty and fourteen years in the Navy Reserves. During his active duty he served on the USS Saratoga as a hull maintenance technician. Upon returning from the military, Mike spent forty years working in the HVAC industry and retired from Wilson’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Van Buren in 2021. He was ordained as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith in 1987. Mike was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Denzil and Marjorie Cannedy, and his sister, Linda Cannedy Savage.
Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Denise Cannedy; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Carol Sikes Cannedy of Fort Smith; his daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Blake Smith of Mountainburg; two granddaughters, Ava and Emersyn Smith; one brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Sophia Cannedy of Rudy; one sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Vic Dziadek of Russellville; and nieces and nephews.
