Mona Jo (Millsap) Fisher was born August 10, 1934, in Okemah, OK, to Harley and Laura Belle (Keifer) Millsap. She graduated from Henryetta High School (1952) and from Phillips University in Enid, OK with a degree in accounting. That same year, she wed her college beau, Jere Dean Fisher, June 22, 1956 and
from their union, they added 8 children.
Mona Jo and Jere moved to Spiro, OK in 1960. They purchased the Redwine residence and opened
Fisher’s of Spiro, Funeral Home and Flower Shop which they operated, side-by-side, for 36 years. Mona Jo was an active member of the Spiro community serving as a leader for the local scouting programs and as a dedicated Band Booster. She was an active member of First Christian Church in Fort Smith, AR. where she chaired many committees and performed in the duties of deacon and elder.
Mona Jo died at home, in Van Buren, AR, on October, 23, 2021. She was preceded by her parents, her husband of sixty-three years, one sister, Marydella (Millsap) House, and one son, Jeremy Deayne. She is survived by her children: Jennifer Quinton (Jay) of Alexandria, LA, Jeffrey Fisher (Ray) of Las Vegas, NV Keifer Fisher (Karen) of Spiro, OK, Krystal Oldham (Rodney) of Oklahoma, Kedron Fisher (Ronna) of Oklahoma City, OK, Hahns Fisher (Carol) of Van Buren, AR, Hachya Franklin (Steve) of Van Buren; 26 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Additionally, a nephew, Jordan Estes House. a niece, Laura Grace House, and two great nieces.
Public viewing will be Wednesday from 8 AM-5 PM and Thursday from 8 AM – 8 PM.
Visitation with family, will be Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 6 – 8 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Services will be held 2 pm, Friday, October 29, 2021, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Fort Smith, AR, with interment conducted at Spiro City Cemetery in Spiro, OK. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be given anonymously to the Lord’s work.
