She was a wife and homemaker and married to her soulmate, Carl Grizzle for over 74 years. He preceded her in death just four short months ago. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Manuel McGarrah and Kenneth McGarrah of Cave Springs, AR.
She will be remembered for her delicious home cooked meals, fresh produce from their garden, and garage sales. Card games, board games, and watching TV game shows were among some of her favorite hobbies. Family gatherings were one of her main delights in life and Grandma dearly loved all her grandkids and great grandkids and treasured time spent with them.
She was the oldest of nine children born to Coley and Ida Mae McGarrah and therefore helped raise and care for her dearly loved siblings even taking them into her own home for extended periods after she was married. She attended First Assembly of God in Van Buren, AR, where she was actively involved in her Sunday School Class, Trailblazers, and furthermore she hardly ever missed church as it was an important part of her life. Her many friends and family knew her for her sweet spirit and kind words. God and family were her top priorities. More than anything, she wanted to see all of her family attending church and meeting her in Heaven one day.
She is survived by three children, Steve Grizzle and wife Kay of Muldrow, OK, Ron Grizzle and wife Carol of Mary Esther, FL, Janelle Webb and husband David of Fort Smith, AR; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by two brothers, Herman McGarrah of Cave Springs, AR and Howard McGarrah of Hardy, AR; along with four sisters, Edna Hazen of Ramona, CA, Almeta Linn of Cave Springs, AR, Shirley Linn of Cave Springs, AR, and Sue Lane of Lowell, AR.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 28th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 10 am at First Assembly of God in Van Buren, AR with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
