Pat Baskin

Pat Baskin, 91, passed from this life July 25, 2025. She was born January 16, 1934 in Brookfield, MO to John Baskin and Roberta (England) Baskin. Pat retired from the Fort Smith Public Schools where she taught art. She played semi-professional softball after college and later coached softball and basketball in Memphis, TN and at St Scholastica in Fort Smith. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers Association, United Methodist Women and a Lifetime Member of PTA. Pat loved animals especially her dog, Pixie. She spent countless hours doing arts & crafts at her church and Methodist Nursing Home. She worked with the senior adults by taking them on trips and organizing lunches at her church. She was instrumental in establishing the hospital house for Goddard which provided a place to stay for out of town patients/families receiving treatment at Sparks and the Cancer Center. Pat enjoyed opening her home for monthly lunches for the older adults from church as well as an annual Christmas luncheon.

She is survived by her nieces, Terri Hewitt, Becky Baird, and Patti Sharum; nephew, Jerry Schaefer; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Shoaf and Kay Schaefer, as well as a niece, Barbara Sain and nephew, Gary Shoaf.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 15, 2025, at Goddard United Methodist Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
