Born on April 23, 1933, in Thomas, OK, to Leonard and Ruth Coker Powell, Patsy lived a life marked by kindness, strength, faith, patience, and unwavering devotion to her family.
On December 4, 1952, she married Marion Frances Curd. They spent their early years together in Lawton, OK, while Marion served in the military. They later moved to Odessa, TX, where they built a home filled with love, laughter, selfless support, and deep faith. Patsy was the devoted mother of Allen and Melynda, who will forever cherish her guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. She was also a beloved grandmother to David, Heather, Adam, and Krysta, and a joyful great grandmother to ten great grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Patsy was a stay at home mother until Melynda entered middle school. Her first job was as an accountant with Baily Griffith Firestone, where she was respected for her attention to detail. She later entered the medical field as a computer data input analyst at a time when computers were just beginning to appear in workplaces. She spent long hours in an extremely cold, cramped room—because the computer itself filled most of the space—learning the new technology and helping Odessa Internal Medicine stay at the forefront of modern data management.
When Marion retired, they moved back to Roland where they built a home on top of the mountain. Patsy later returned to work as the Office Manager for Holt Crock Clinic in Roland, OK, where she remained until her retirement. After retiring, she devoted herself to caring for Marion as he faced COPD. Through her quiet strength and daily example, her children and all who knew her witnessed what it truly means to care for—and deeply love—another person. She stood faithfully by Marion’s side until he passed, her steadfast care surely giving him more time than his health promised.
Throughout her life, Patsy found her greatest joy in the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her cooking was a comfort to all—no one could rival her biscuits and gravy—and her smile had a way of brightening even the heaviest day. Guided by deep and steady faith, she touched countless lives, and everyone who met her walked away knowing they mattered to her.
She is survived by her children Allen Curd and Janet Gimlin of Skiatook, OK; Melynda and Ron Davis of Prosper, TX; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: David Curd and his wife Teresa, and their daughter Kaylee; Heather Chvala and her husband Michael, and their children Brooklyn, Michael Jr., James, Steven, Kateryna, and Kasia; Adam Davis and his wife Laura, and their sons Brayden and Oliver; Krysta Rehkemper and her husband Jarod, and their son Porter.
She is also survived by her sisters Lily Shamblin of Roland, OK; Toinette Browning of Victoria, MN; Floy Bachmann of Rock Springs, WY; Faye Martin of Sallisaw, OK; her brother Gene Powell of Mountain Grove, MO; and a large and loving extended family of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Ruth Powell, her husband of 55 years Marion, sisters Vivian Pliger, Sue Crowder, and brothers RC Powell, Bob Powell, and Johnny Powell.
