The Lord gave us Robbie on June 25, 1950, and after a courageous 20 month battle with cancer, called her home October 5, 2017. She was the youngest of three daughters born to James and Armenta Mason of Brinkley. Always smiling through her beautiful brown eyes, and knowing no stranger, she made life -long friends from her grade school days in West Helena and Brinkley, through high school, college at Southern State in Magnolia, Arkansas; and all of the places she and her family lived.
She loved music; playing the French horn in the Brinkley High School Band, singing with her church youth group, and in adult church choirs in Corpus Christi and Bevil Oaks, Texas. Her college major was Theatre Arts. She was Miss Congeniality and first runner up in the 1970 Miss Southern State Beauty pageant, and a founding member of the Southern Belles drill team that performed at football and basketball games.
The fall of her freshman year of college she met her future spouse, Fred. Their first official date was Homecoming 1968. At the dance afterwards, she swept him into her heart. They were married December 23, 1971 and would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this year. Through Fred’s education and employment, they lived in Indianapolis, Fayetteville, Little Rock, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, and Fort Smith. Her children would bring classmates home for a visit, a home cooked meal, and great conversation. She listened to and cared about all of them.
Robbie’s warm and caring personality made friends all along the way; including many she’d met online through her Bible-based “Back porch Views” that she posted regularly on Facebook and Instagram.
She is survived by two sisters, Lou Alice Watson of San Antonio, Texas and Della Kay Hall of Biscoe, Arkansas; her husband, Fred Jordan of Fort Smith; son, Buddy; and grandson Jimmy of Austin, Texas; daughter, Rachel Marie Adams; son-in-law, Evan; and grandson, Jonas of Manitou Springs, Colorado; son, Mason of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and son, Jonathan; daughter-in-law, Danika; and granddaughter, Analeigh Margaret of Derby, Kansas.
