

Ronald Goodwin Hatcher, 89, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born in Princeton, West Virginia on January 28, 1936 to the late Essie Owen and Hilda Elizabeth Hatcher.
Ron was a loving and devoted husband, father and Papa. He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and a 5th grade Sunday school teacher for many years. Ron worked in Dallas, Texas for IBM and was relocated to Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1966. He retired from IBM after over 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nancy Dale Hatcher, with whom he shared 56 beautiful years of marriage.
He is survived by two daughters, Andra Alain Williamson and husband Rod of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Dina Marie Long and husband Bryan of Owasso, Oklahoma: five grandchildren, Brad Williamson and Blake Williamson, and Sagely Long, Quinn Long and Brayden Long, as well as three great granddaughters Clara, Carmilla and Pepper Williamson.
Ron proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1965, spending some time stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Ron touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness, sense of humor and selfless generosity. He was a faithful Christian man with strong values who lived and led by example.
Services to honor Rons life will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas at 10:00 am, followed by burial at the Fort Smith National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
Friends and family may visit Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Rod, Brad and Blake Williamson; Bryan and Brayden Long; and Jerry Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice of Fort Smith.
