Ruben Chavez, 55, of Fort Smith, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. He was born on August 5, 1967 in Araro, Michoacan, Mexico to the late Guadalupe and Antonia Birruete Chavez. Ruben worked in construction and attended St. Boniface Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Josefina, of the home; three sons, Ruben Chavez of California, Eric Chavez and Miguel Chavez, both of Fort Smith; five sisters, Elvia Reyna, Mayola Marin, Rosario Matamores, Girselda Reyes and Antonia Chavez, all of Fort Smith; four brothers, Javier Chavez and Guadalupe Chavez, both of Fort Smith, Simon Chavez of Washington and Juan Chavez of Fort Smith, along with seven grandchildren.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith.
Rosary service will be 1:30 pm Monday, July 31, 2023, followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
