Rubye Barton, 92, of Fort Smith, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. She was born on September 28, 1930 in Franklin Parish, Louisiana to the late Glen and Mrytle (Holloway) Newcomer. Rubye was retired from Barton-Smith Insurance Inc., where she served as Vice-President. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank “Kit” Barton.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church, private interment will be at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Rubye is survived by her beloved nieces, nephews and step-children.
