Ruth Louise Robbins

Ruth Louise Robbins, 97, of Fort Smith, died September 14, 2011 in Fort Smith. She was a retired employee of the Fort Smith Public School System serving Southside High School for 18 years. She was a Volunteer for Sparks Regional Medical Center, Miss Laura’s Information Center, and the Old Fort Museum and she was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Claudia Scherrey and her husband Tony of Fort Smith and Rebecca Minks and her husband David of Rock Island, OK; six grandchildren, Ben Scherrey and wife Chompoo, Edward Scherrey, Serena Smith & husband Tripp, Mary Ruth Brehmer & husband John, Wendy Lorenz and husband Mike, and Mike Delp; and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Claud Elbert Robbins, her parents and six brothers and sisters.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Southside High School.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the West Wing Staff of Methodist Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Ruth during her stay and also to Peachtree Hospice for their care.

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM.
