Sam and I met at porch night about 7 years ago. We became great friends during that time. Sam was always willing to go to music events with me, even on weeknights when we didn’t get home until 1 or 2 in the morning. He was pretty much always at the ready anytime I needed anything! He even taught me to do things correctly, like showing me how to properly use chopsticks 😂 I was fortunate enough to get to spend most of the week before surgery with Sam. You really get to know someone in times like these, even great friends become closer. I already valued our friendship immensely, but by Friday morning the love and respect I feel for Sam increased a thousand fold. I will never, ever forget you Sam!! My only regret is that I didn’t love you more ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks, Sam, for some good years together on the Blues Society board, and for your substantial work on our annual festivals. RIP. I fantasize you meeting up with Johnny Winter, Muddy, and others, further on down that road.

Wow, I cannot even put into words the kind of man that Sam was. He was ALWAYS there for his friends. He always made me smile. I have so many great memories with him. I think the one that I will keep with me the most is when we went to see Iron Maiden together. Sam loved music, I’m pretty sure every music event I went to Sam was also there enjoying the sounds. Rest In Peace my friend, I know you are rocking out in heaven!!!

Sam and Mark Chitwood and David Rogoff were best of buds and the three amigos! They were also our friends. We all used to hang out in our twenties and he was part of our “crew”. We send our deepest sympathies to his family and friends and we will all be one
“ crew “ member short as life moves on. He was a great guy, a great friend, and had the best sense of humor he was also one of the nicest guys you would ever meet.
