Sandra Camille Irwin Neel, a cherished soul who graced this world on December 29, 1937 in Little Rock, AR left us peacefully on September 19, 2026, surrounded by the family she held so dear. Sandra's life was a testament to love, faith, and resilience, values instilled in her by her beloved parents, Harold and Juanita Irwin. Sandra shared a beautiful journey with her husband, Jerry Neel, whom she married in March 1957. Their 65 years of marriage were marked by unwavering devotion and countless shared memories. Together, they raised a loving family, nurturing each member with care and compassion. Sandra is now reunited in heaven with Jerry in eternal rest. Also, preceding her in death, were her beloved parents her youngest son Rodney Neel, grandsons Jonathan Neel and Alex Neel, brothers Robey Irwin, Jerry Irwin, and sister Joan Menick. Sandra dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She was a steadfast and active member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith, AR, for an incredible 65 years, where her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many. Her love for us was truly unconditional just like Jesus’ love for His children. She didn’t just talk about her faith; she lived it every single day. She read her bible often and quoted its wisdom to us, guiding our family with grace. She was our rock, our biggest supporter and our safe place. Her laugh was the sound of joy and her kindness was endless. Our kids and grandkids were spoiled by her in the form of sweet singalongs, frequent sleepovers, always followed by ice cream for breakfast. We will carry her love for us for the rest of our lives! Sandra's legacy continues through her surviving children: Jerry Neel Jr(Jake), and his wife Marisu, Dennis Neel, Scott Neel, and his wife Caroline, and Karen (Neel) Gipson and her husband Greg. Her love extends to her 12 grandchildren, Paul Neel (Lindsey) Natalie Neel, Eric Neel, Kristan Lewellen, Katelyn Maxwell (Bryant), Nick Lewellen (Ashley), Abbey Whorton (Hunter), Logan Neel, Annabelle Manely (Ryan) and Alexyss Gipson, as well as her 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her heart.
A celebration of Sandra's life will be held on October 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Fort Smith, AR. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to gather in her honor at a visitation on Thursday October 15th, 2026 from 5-7pm at Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church, Fort Smith, AR, to continue Sandra's legacy of faith and service. Sandra's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed, yet her memory will be cherished eternally. Jeremiah 29:11.
