Sarah was a graduate of Ft. Smith Sr. High and attended Tulsa Technical College. She spent many years employed by Flanders Industries and retired from The Norman Company. Sarah was also a member of First Baptist Church of VB.
Most of her time was spent enjoying weekends with family and friends at Lake Tenkiller racing Plum Crazy and cruising on her pontoon. She was one of the founding members of the Chicken Creek Yacht Club. Other hobbies included dirt bike riding, snow skiing, attending drag boat and drag car races, and taking cruises to various parts of the world. She lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with her family and friends. Sarah took advantage of the time God gave her on this Earth and made the most of it. Her favorite quote, “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” This is truly how she lived her life. Her loyalty and commitment were attributes that were admirable to those who knew her. As Nana, her joy revolved around her grandsons playing ball and cheering on the Grizzlies. She was also a Razorback fanatic and rooted for them always.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Maxey, parents Dallas and Ottie Shaver, brother Wendell Shaver and family, sisters Bernice Hobbs and Charlese Schoeppey, and niece Denice Hobbs.
