Born on November 25, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, Shane was the beloved son of Jimmy Phelps and Gloria Boswell Phelps. He graduated from Acorn High School in 1998 and later earned his degree from Southern Arkansas University.
On June 5, 1999, Shane married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Amanda Lynn Parks. Together they shared 27 years of devoted marriage. Their life together was marked by deep love, unwavering faith, and a commitment to serving others.
Above all, Shane loved Jesus Christ. He cherished every opportunity to talk about God's Word, encourage others in their faith, and serve the Church he loved so dearly. As a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God, Shane faithfully served in overseas ministry for 21 years. Most recently, he served as pastor of Tangier International Protestant Church in Tangier, Morocco, where he faithfully shepherded believers from many nations and backgrounds.
Shane delighted in the simple pleasures of life and the people he loved most. He loved to sing—often spontaneously and without warning—in elevators, taxis, and just about anywhere else. He found joy in the mountains, the outdoors, and days spent hunting and fishing. Above all, he treasured time with his family. He enjoyed a perfectly grilled steak and cheering for the Razorbacks and the Cowboys—no matter how often they broke his heart. His warm spirit, quick smile, and genuine love for people left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Shane's memory will be treasured by his wife, Mandy; his parents, Jimmy and Gloria Phelps; his brother, Heath Phelps and wife Shannon, along with their children Hayden, Harper, Colt, and Canyon; his mother-in-law, Jane Hicks; his brother-in-law, Lynn Hicks and wife Julie, and their sons Wiley and Garen; and countless family and friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ around the world whose lives were touched by his faith, kindness, and servant's heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Central Christian Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Visitation will begin an hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. Shane will be laid to rest at Mount Olive Cemetery in Midland, Arkansas.
Those wishing to honor Shane's memory may make gifts to firebible.org, whose mission of providing God's Word in local languages reflected a cause close to his heart.
