Sharon Pribil

Sharon was born Sharon Sylvester on May 29, 1944, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Leo Max Sylvester and Blanche Hyde. She later lived in Oklahoma City, where she met Phillip W. West, the father of her three children. In 1964, they moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas, where they raised their family. Sharon and Phillip later divorced, and in 1979 Sharon returned to Oklahoma City.

Sharon became a mother at a young age and was a fun parent who brought plenty of personality and laughter to family life. She was feisty, fun and blessed with a sharp wit. In her younger years, she loved a good party and was rarely one to miss an opportunity to have a good time. She was always put together, with her makeup done to perfection, and had a style and personality all her own. People were naturally drawn to Sharon and loved being around her.

After returning to Oklahoma City, Sharon met and married Robert “Bobby” Pribil of Bison, Oklahoma. Shortly after marrying, Sharon and Bobby moved to Tuttle, Oklahoma, where they built a wonderful life together. They made many lasting friendships, became an active part of the community and especially enjoyed attending and cheering on the Tuttle High School football team. Following Bobby’s death, Sharon returned to Fort Smith to be close to her family.

Sharon loved to dance. Dancing was a joy throughout her entire life, and she was exceptionally good at it. She continued dancing well into her later years at the senior center, where she especially enjoyed sharing the dance floor and many good times with her very dear friend, James Robertson.

Sharon was the mother of three children, Shannon West Belzer, Eric West and Kourtni West Alley. She was a proud grandmother to Jacob Belzer, Alexandra Belzer, Hailey Belzer, Brooke Taylor Bolton and Aya West, and a great-grandmother to Leighton Belzer-Gaston.

She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Cindy Caver of Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Max Sylvester and Blanche Hyde; her sister, Deanna Gaye Whinery; and her husband, Robert “Bobby” Pribil.

Sharon’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Memory Lane Senior Care for the kindness, compassion and care they provided to Sharon. The family is also especially grateful to her in-home caregiver, Bethany Williams, for the loving care, companionship and support she gave Sharon and their family.

Sharon will be laid to rest beside Bobby at Bison Cemetery in Bison, Oklahoma.

Sharon lived life with personality, humor and a little bit of sass. She loved to laugh, loved to dance and knew how to have a good time. She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly, countless memories, and plenty of stories that will continue to make those who knew her laugh and smile. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
