Steven was present, patient, and deeply committed to his wife and children. Known for his quiet strength and generous spirit, he balanced a rugged exterior with a gentle heart. He was a good man: kind, caring, and deeply grounded in his values. A lifelong member of First Christian Church, Steven lived his faith through his actions, offering support, love, and integrity to those around him.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years, LaBeth Riggs; their children, Shelly Wagner and her husband Caleb, Brannon Riggs and his wife Gina, and Stacey Hodge and her husband Trevor; and their grandson, Ben Cusick.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N 12th Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901. A celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 3501 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72903. Steven will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the service.
Serving as pallbearers are Brannon Riggs, Caleb Wagner, Trevor Hodge, Ben Cusick, Tom Wald, and Mike Nichols. Honorary pallbearers include George Riggs and members of the Kiwanis Noon Club of Fort Smith.
