

Steven Anthony Siegert, 89 of Barling passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017. He was born July 21, 1927 in Chicago, Il to the late Stephen and Anna Cholke Siegert. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a US Army Veteran where he served in the Occupation forces in Japan after World War II. He graduated from Lindblom High School in Chicago, IL, attended William and Mary College in Virginia on a basketball scholarship, after his service in the Army. He met his future wife Gloria while refereeing basketball. He retired from Wilson Sporting Goods after 35 years. His hobbies include; sports, landscaping, golf, tennis, and was artistic enjoying painting.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Mary Millard and her husband Ed, and Ann Temple and her husband Carl, two brothers; Bill Siegert and Joe Siegert and his wife Violet, and his grandparents George and Ann Pearson Siegert and Jacob and Katherine Hilger Cholke.
Rosary will be said at 1:00 PM Monday, January 9, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church with the Memorial Mass immediately following the Rosary. Inurnment will be at Christ the King Columbarium. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
Steven is survived by his wife Gloria of the home, two daughters; Cheryl “Cheri” Bell and her husband Tim of Barling, and Sue Whalen and her husband Tim of Germantown, TN; two sisters; Rosmary Lindl and her husband Joe of CA, and Delores Klaywiter and her husband Bob of Fort Worth, TX; sister-in-law Stephanie Siegert. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Andy and his wife Michelle Whalen of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah Ashley Bell of Rogers, Jennifer Leigh Highfill and her husband Jesse of Springfield, MO, Christopher Ryan Bell of Fort Smith, Molly Elizabeth Bell of Memphis, TN and Stephen Tyler Bell of Jonesboro, and one great granddaughter; Brynnleigh Grace Highfill.
