

He is survived by: his wife, Mary, of Roland, Oklahoma; two daughters, Lori of Fort Smith, and Sherry Brown and husband Darrell Brown of Fort Smith; a son, Andy of Fort Smith; one step-son, Rob, of Roland, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Ericka Beam, Jason, Olivia Brown, Kobe, Tristan Rogers; and two great-grandsons, Thomas and Jayden. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay, grandchildren Jacob and Rhiannon, and three brothers.
Tom attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy. He retired from City National Bank in Fort Smith.
He signed a professional contract with Shreveport Sports and played for two years with their farm teams in Odessa, TX and Alexandria, LA. He started playing slow pitch softball in 1967 and senior softball in 1991. He was a member of 15 national championship teams. He was MVP on several occasions, five times First Team All-American, twice All-World. He also held state records in many track and field events in the Senior Olympics, winning over 130 medals. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame in 2010.
Funeral service will be 12 Noon Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, at 201 N 12th St, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please direct donations toward Goddard Methodist Church, where Tom was a member for 56 years and Sunday school teacher for 20.
