Bill Hess was the best neighbor anyone could ever have and ours for the 34 plus years we lived next to him. He was a special person always with a smile and a wave. If we had icy roads (that did not get cindered before the grade school) he would call the road department, then call and suggest we do the same and cinders were spread. When drives needed clearing he cleared his and would clear the neighbors also if he could. When the leaves fell in the fall and we were both working they would be blown from the steep part of our drive so we wouldn't slide down. It was hard, if not impossible, to repay him for the things he did. When orchards and berry patches called he went and returned sharing with neighbors. But those are the material things, there was something about him as a person that anyone that knew him had to admire. He will be missed by many of us.

I was so sad to hear about your dad. He and your mother were so much fun to be around, always full of life. They always made me feel so welcome and whenever I saw him out he was so happy to see me. I will never forget going to the KISA haunted house and then going back to your house for a sleep over, staying up all night long listening to KISR! What fun. You were so blessed with such special parents. I know you were so close you will really miss him. You are in my thoughts and prayers! Love & Prayers.

Bill was a great friend during our growing up years on the 600 block of North 17th
Street in Fort Smith. We played in each others homes and yards and had many fun times together. Wonderful memories of he and his family. Sam Wood, Portland, Oregon.
