Marie Rose Doherty, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed into the loving arms of our Savior on February 22, 2020. Born on June 6, 1925, in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of the late James and Marie M. (Reinhardt) Park; and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Karen (Gary) Parke of Avilla, Linda (Tim) Travis of Oshkosh Wis., and Pamela (David) DeKoninck, of Auburn; daughter-in-law, Sherry Doherty, of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert L. Doherty, in 2013; son, Brian Doherty, in 1983, Robert Doherty, in 2013.
Marie was a long-time active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brooklyn Ave. She volunteered for many years at St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store where she enjoyed managing the book section. She led a supportive role in her husband, Albert's, Boy Scout leadership career. Marie was loved for being a good listener, counselor and friend. She most recently enjoyed having tea parties with her friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Friday, February 28, 2020, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 7pm, Thursday, February 27, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with Rosary service at 3:30pm. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
Memorial donations may be given to Gibault Children's Services, or St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
