Adolphus A. Gant Jr., age 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Avantara Aurora Rehabilitation Center in Aurora, IL. He was born in Mt. Vernon, NY, to the late Rosalie (nee. Grant) & Adolphus A. Gant, Sr. on March 20, 1947.
He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and the University of Minnesota. He worked as a truck driver for 33 years. After moving to Fort Wayne, IN, he became a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
His number one joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He and his late wife Carolyn T. Price-Gant, were classic car enthusiast and enjoyed watching sports together.
Adolphus leaves a legacy of love and precious memories to his daughters, Michelle (Shawn) Gant-Alexander of Montgomery, IL, Tanya (Dereick) Gant-Heard of Fairburn, GA and Valencia (Adrian) Gant-Coleman of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Carmela Alexander and Jillian Heard, Justin Alexander and Zoey Coleman; a brother, Kenneth (Loida) Gant; and a host of other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Gant.
A Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1105 Calhoun St. (46802), with Fr. Jacob Runyon, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Entombment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.
