Alberta Harriette Smith, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. She was born on January 29, 1926 in Otterbein, Indiana. Alberta was a daughter of the late Eilhard and Annie (Janssen) Feldkamp. She received an Associate degree from the International Business College in Fort Wayne. She worked for North American Van Lines and for Philo Farnsworth. Alberta was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for a long time and then joined Waynedale Methodist Church. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Women’s Society and a past president. She was a board member for the Pettit-Rudisill Neighborhood Association for many years. Alberta also enjoyed participating in Cub Scouts with her boys, being a Den mother, and traveling. She worked for the Boy Scouts of America. Alberta is survived by her sons; Shawn (Ingrid Widenhorn-Smith), Lorin (Janet), Michael (Kristi Johnson), and Kirk (Angela) Smith; grandchildren, Madeline Smith, Lindsay Johnson, Mirko Widenhorn (Brian Bogert); great-grandchildren, Adonis and Laniya Johnson; and sister, Greta (Bud) Childs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jon R. Smith; sisters, Kate (Edward) Goad and Ann (Paul) Schurr. A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at D.O. McComb & Sons funeral home 6301 Fairfield Ave. Fort Wayne, Indiana 46807 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice.
