
Alice M. Ferguson, 92 of Fort Wayne, Indiana died Sunday, March 1, 2020 at North Woods Village Memory Care Center. She was born on October 28, 1927 in Fort Wayne. Alice was the fourth of four children, born to Margaret (Costigan) and Albert E. Younghaus. Her father, who died when she was seven named her after his favorite song “Alice Blue Gown”. Following her father’s death, her maternal grandmother, Mary Catherine Costigan, stepped in to help raise Alice and her sisters and brother. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Alice also attended St. Mary of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas. She married Richard M. Ferguson on September 17, 1949. For more than 40 years, they owned and operated the Fort Wayne Precision Dental Lab with their son, Matthew. An enthusiastic traveler, Alice planned many family vacations and managed to convince her reluctant husband to accompany her on several international trips. Besides her sense of adventure, she will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to her family and wonderful sense of humor, which she retained despite her battle with dementia. She is survived by her daughters, Ann (Daniel) Richards of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Mary Callander of Columbus, Ohio; son, Matthew J. Ferguson of Fort Wayne; son-in-law, Michael Huth of Fort Wayne; proud and loving grandmother of, Andrew Richards, Margaret Rummelt, Lucy Fisher, Abigail Boger, and Charles Callander; and great-grandmother of, Norah Fisher, James Rummelt, and Oliver Boger. Alice was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard; beloved daughter, Amy Huth; and infant son, Patrick Ferguson.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 12305 Arcola Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46818 with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in Alice's memory may be made to Matthew 25; and SCAN.
