Alice "Sally" Van Osdol Gray

Alice “Sally” Gray passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Park Place Assisted Living Facility in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in 1933 in Peru, IN where she grew up and graduated high school in 1951 and then went on to earn her BA degree from Indiana University. There she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1953 she married Dr. Laurence Gray from Wabash, IN. They were married for 68 years until his death in 2022.

She went on to earn her degree from Indiana University in Dental Hygiene in 1973. She worked with her husband for 25 years in a small Dental Office serving hundreds of patients in the Fort Wayne area. After retirement she stayed active with grandchildren, gardening and cooking.

Alice was a very active member and a past president of the local Tri-Kappa sorority, active in the Afternoon Art League and member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Wayne.

She is survived by her brother, John Van Osdol; daughter, Kathleen (Philip) Rhinehart and son, James (Joanne) Gray; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Nick) Rorick, David Rhinehart, Kim (Sam) Tielker, Andrew (Ashley) Rhinehart, Michelle (Ben) Petry, and Melissa Gray; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Laurence; brother, James Van Osdol; and parents, Dr. John and Mildred Van Osdol.

Celebration of Life is 3 PM Saturday, April 19, 2025 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 E. Dupont Road with calling one hour prior. Interment at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to Heartland Hospice, 2720 Dupont Commerce Ct, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
