

Alma Josephine Chandler, age 93, transitioned into the Master's hands, May 16, 2026. She was born November 6, 1932, in Grambling, LA. She came to Fort Wayne as a child with her aunt, Willa Jackson, who raised her. She later married, had 3 daughters and she worked and retired from Magnavox with 25 years of service.
Josephine is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank Chandler, of Marion, AL; her parents, Andrew Gaulden, Jr and Beatrice Pender; Aunt, Willa Jackson; brothers: Harold Gaulden, Andrew Gaulden, III, and Howard Gaulden.
She is survived by one brother, Charles (Dorothea) Gaulden. Josephine’s children are: A. Gwen Earley, Vivian M. Chandler and Teresa Green. Her grandchildren are A. Christina Earley, Denise J. Earley, Kayata K. (Bruce) Sewell, Sidney I. Daniels and Jordan N. (Anthony) Smith, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Josephine led a full, joyful life and enjoyed gardening, dancing, reading, crocheting, shopping, gospel choirs, genealogy, ladies’ get-togethers, family road-trips and a really good belly laugh. God’s Love and Grace abound. Your prayers for us are actively reaching our hearts. We are praying for you to receive God’s comfort, as you mourn with us. Hava nagila.
As her children, we stand united in honoring her request for no services. Her ashes will be interred at Lindenwood Cemetery
