My heart goes out to my Aunt Margie, Beth, Todd, John, all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the many, many people who Uncle Alvie's life touched.

He was a great uncle to me when I was growing up: always kind, always smiling, and never an unkind word to or about anyone. He was a great family man and role model.

He kept all of us kids entertained with outdoor games at Grandma and Grandpa Ford's farm, especially kick the can. He will be deeply missed.

With heartfelt love and sympathy,
Merilee Ford

As we look through all of these photos, we can appreciate who Alva really was from the faces of those around him. Alva was clearly loved.
My sister posted earlier that my Mother Joyce adored her older brother, and while we didn’t get to see him often, he held a special place in our home. It was a unique compliment when my Mother would call me or my brothers, ‘little Alva’.
My family and I are thinking of you and hope you find solace in having been so abundantly blessed.

My memories are from when your family lived on the Leo Road next to the Shaffer's. I remember how much energy you put in to refurbishing and remodeling the old farmhouse and how beautiful it was. I remember how kind you were to my parents--Dean and Dorothy. My dad wasn't in good health then, but John was always willing to give good help with projects and thus earn some extra money. Good kid.
Well, we all moved away and our lives changed. But those years still remain as good memories.
You have my sympathy.

My mom Joyce so dearly loved her brother Alvie. She always spoke of him with the greatest love and respect. She thought the world of him. He could make her laugh like no one else. Thank you for posting the family photos. She's in a couple of them and I can see her smiling and laughing. That's how I remember them together.

Uncle Alvie was a wonderful role model as a faithful christian, husband, father and grandfather. I never heard him utter an unkind word about anyone. He always had a smile, encouraging words, and a willingness to help anyone. My sincere condolences and prayers for the many family members and friends suffering from the loss of this dear man.
