The family of Andrew Davidson Hosey III, ( Drew), is saddened to announce his passing at his home in Fort Wayne on January 27, 2025 at the age of 61. His death was a result of complications from kidney failure and COPD.
Drew was born in Flint, Michigan in 1963. The family moved to Plymouth, Michigan in 1970, where Drew graduated Salutatorian from Plymouth Canton High School in 1980. He also took engineering classes at both Kettering and Trine Universities.
He was a collector, collecting stamps, beer cans and steins, and record albums. He loved music, having been in both marching band and orchestra in high school and also singing in church choir. He also loved water skiing and fishing at our parent’s house on Crooked Lake in Angola, Indiana. He was exceptionally smart and had a vast knowledge of trivia and history. He also had a quick wit, loved spending time with family, and eating good food.
Drew also had struggles with mental health issues over the years. While much of the time this was pretty well managed, there were some hard times in his life, but he always managed to eventually get things back on track, or “all his ducks in a row” as he liked to quote our mother.
Drew is survived by his father, Andrew Hosey, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his sister Susan Howard (née Hosey) of Westland, Michigan; and his sister Pamela Flora (née Hosey) (Spencer) of Westfield Center, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marylee Hosey.
A private family ceremony will take place in the spring.
Memorial donations in memory of Drew may be sent to The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, 404 E. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46802 or to The Carriage House, 3327 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
