Andrew Kenneth McKissick, 50, of Fort Wayne Indiana, passed away on Wednesday April 8th, 2020 at his home after battling cancer for thirteen years.

He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 25th, 1969, a son of Kirby and Diana (Handlin) McKissick. He is survived by his spouse, Jennifer (Rayl) McKissick and their three cool kids: Stephanie, Alex, and Amber McKissick. He is also survived by his brother Thomas (Laura) McKissick, and his mother Carol McKissick.

And here is the story of our family and how it all began. Our parents met at 16 years old and have been happily married for 30 years. During this time, we (Stephanie, Alex, and Amber) came along. Growing up, some of our fondest memories consist of taking family vacations to the beach, boogie boarding in the ocean. As well as enjoying family dinners and his famous chocolate chip cookies.

Our dad was a simple man, loving his family and dogs was what he enjoyed most in life. He spent most of his time enjoying the outdoors. You could find him running, cycling, kayaking, walking the dogs, or working on the landscape. He was our go-to mechanic… he was our go-to for everything. Everyone who knew our dad, loved his unique sense of humor and that was our favorite thing about him.

Our dad appreciated a nice long island on a summer day, a sweet cherry pie, and just good conversation. He was selfless, loving, kind, very generous, and had the bravest of souls. We know him as a great father, loving husband, caring neighbor, and best friend. Thanks for putting up a good fight. You will always be in our hearts, we love you so much.

The family would like to thank Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Fort Wayne, Dr. Theodore F. Logan IU Health, Dr. Daniel L. Wurtz IU Health, and all the amazing nurses that cared for our dad during his fight with cancer.

Memorial donations may be given to Riley Children's Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne.

I am so very thankful to have known this wonderful man. He was always there to lend a helping hand whenever help was needed & he did so with a smile on his face. Whenever Steph & I needed help moving from apartment to apartment, to apartment, he was there, even when he wasn’t feeling up to the job that day. You fought such a good fight & you are so, so loved.

My favorite memories of Andy were always the smile on his face and the encouraging feeling I had when I saw him. We did not see each other often, but it was always memorable. His perseverance and love for life and family are a great example to everyone.

Jennifer and family, you have my sincere sympathy and prayers now and in the future. May God give you comfort and may you feel the love from all your friends at this time. - Gary Bruner

I knew Andy, his father and brother many years ago as we lived in the same neighborhood.

When I think back to those days, they always leave me with smile and a laugh as I enjoy all the memories made with the Mckissick's!!

Even back then Andy was such a caring and gentle old soul. I rejoice that he has been reunited with his Father. However, I am still heartbroken for all those that will miss him. I pray everyone will find comfort and peace during this difficult time.

My heartfelt condolences to all his family, friends and loved ones.

RIP Andy 🙏

I graduated from high school with Andy and though we weren't close friends, the two of us spoke periodically because our parents worked together at NABISCO. You are all in my thoughts as you deal with this loss, especially during these current world struggles.
