Anthony "Tony" J. Maurer

Anthony J. “Tony” Maurer, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on June 14, 2026. He was the son of the late Anton and Anna Maurer, and was raised in Springfield, Illinois. He moved to Fort Wayne in 1958, to start his career at Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. He worked there until his retirement in 1993. Tony was known for his quick wit and was rarely without a smile. His faith was strong and he shared it with a loving joy. He lived with personal accountability and integrity his entire life and wanted to pass that on to his family. He will be missed, but his family rejoices in knowing that he is safely with the Lord.

Tony is survived by his children, Michael (Catherine), Kathleen (Michael), and Carolyn (Christopher); grandchildren, Jennifer (James), Anthony (Bryan), Alexander (Erin), Andrew (Alexandria), and Jacob; his four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a beloved best friend, Ray, whom God unexpectedly brought into his life in his 90s. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary Julia “Julie”, and his oldest granddaughter, Gina Marie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 North Main Street, Roanoke, IN 46783, with visitation one hour prior.
