

Arlene Viola Aker, 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on August 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Rosella (Vachon) Schuhler. Arlene graduated from Central Catholic High School, Fort Wayne and was a lifelong member at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was very devoted to the church, active in the Rosary Sodality and led the parish Right to Life group for more than two decades. Prior to starting a family, Arlene worked for General Electric. Following her years as a homemaker, she returned to work in office administration at Essex Group, Lucky Steer Restaurants, Kmart Distribution, and Alpha Shirt Company. Arlene enjoyed traveling with friends, Rock Steady Boxing, and time with her family.
Arlene is survived by her children, Richard A. (Sherry) Aker, Michael (Margi) Aker, Noreen (John) Ormiston, and Roger Aker; eight grandchildren; and sister, Joan Dampman. Arlene was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Aker; daughter, Dorothy Aker; and sister, Carolyn Smitley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Road, Yoder, Indiana 46798, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with a Rosary service at 3:30 pm. Burial to follow Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in Arlene's memory may be made to Women’s Care Center, Allen County Right to Life, or Masses in her name.
