She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Christ E. Hormann and Mary I. (Kirschner) Hormann. Arlene shared a loving marriage with her husband, John T. "Jack" Flaig. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and lasting memories.
Arlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, her devotion to family, and the way she made those around her feel loved and cared for. She treasured the time she spent with her family and friends, and the many memories they created together.
Throughout her life, Arlene brought dedication and care to many roles. She worked as a dental hygienist, a respiratory therapist, and a realtor. She also spent time working in the office of the family business. She was a member of Sonrise Church, where her faith and fellowship were an important part of her life.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, John T. "Jack" Flaig; her parents, Christ E. Hormann and Mary I. (Kirschner) Hormann; and her brothers, Kenneth Hormann and Roger Hormann.
Surviving are her sons, Kim (Sherrie) Flaig of Fort Wayne, IN and Kent (Colleen) Flaig of Lakeland, FL; grandsons, Chris (Brittany) Flaig of Fort Wayne and Justin (Jennifer) Flaig of Winter Haven, FL; and great-grandsons, Bradley, Camden, Blake and Austin.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, June 29, 2026 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation beginning two hours prior. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stillwater Hospice, or Sonrise Church.
