Obituary of Arnold Ray Bailey
Arnold "Ray" Bailey, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Parkview Regional Hospital. Born December 8, 1937 in Marston, MO, son of Hurshel and Betty (McGee) Bailey. He grew up in Sikeston, MO. He married Verla Killian on November 28, 1958. In 1968, they moved to Fort Wayne when he became shipping supervisor at the newly built Potlatch Corp. He retired from Custom Craft. The family loved to travel and he spent many hours driving Verla for work on her genealogy research. He did leather work and enjoyed making purses and other items for his family. The past few years he watched Bob Ross and started oil painting, he loved classic country music (especially Gene Watson and Marty Robbins) and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He leaves a family who loved him dearly. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Verla, daughter Reesa (Mark) Cook of Wolcottville, son Darren (Laurie) Bailey of Fort Wayne, grandchildren Cody Cook (Dillon Shipman) , Benjamin Bailey, Emma Bailey, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill Bailey and Jim Bailey A visitation for Arnold will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM at D.O.
