Kay was a dedicated and hardworking individual, spending over 15 years as a waitress at Don Hall's Triangle Park location. Beyond her professional life, she was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her personal interests included being an avid gardener; she loved growing flowers and spending time outdoors. Additionally, Kay enjoyed painting, crafts, and all types of puzzles. Kay was actively involved in her community as a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
Kay is survived by her children, Lisa (Scott Miller) Everson and Matthew (Donna) Altekruse; grandchildren, Alyse (Nathan) Engquist, Sankey (Lindsay) Everson, Spencer (Lynn) Miller, Mercedes (Jace) Gatchel, Zoe Altekruse, Mary (Dustin) Owen, Rikki Gambill, Samantha Ballard, Christopher (Jessica) Altekruse; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Altekruse; her parents; and her siblings, Larry M. Jackson, Keith A. Jackson, and Elizabeth A. Scarlett.
Kay will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
A memorial service for Kay will be held at D.O. McCombs & Sons Funeral Home - Lakeside Park, on a later date this summer, with more details to follow from the family.
