Barbara Oleatha Lehman

Barbara Oleatha (Cook) Lehman passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on February 28, 1947 in Missouri to Fred and Nola Cook. She was the youngest of ten children. Barbara met Roy, the love of her life, when she was 19 years old in St. Louis, Missouri. They got married on December 11th, 1967 and moved to Fort Wayne, IN. They had three children, Roy Jr., Corey, and Tana. They were married for 51 years. Barbara worked at General Electric for 33 years, holding various positions, until her retirement in 2002. Barbara was an animal lover and had pets her entire life. She passed this love of animals on to her entire family. Barbara is survived by her beloved Chihuahua, Baby Girl. Barbara loved nature and enjoyed camping, fishing, and sitting outside by her pool enjoying the fresh air. She also loved to travel, play games and had a competitive spirit. Her favorite game was Mexican Train Dominos and she spent many evenings playing with her family. She also enjoyed baseball and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Barbara was a great listener, gave the best advice, and was always there when you needed her. She was generous, selfless, and had the biggest heart. She loved Jesus and she loved her family. She is survived by her sisters Gloria Colleen Cook (Gina Hamilton), Peggy Cook and her brother Leon (Lavern) Cook; her children Roy (Cyndi) Lehman, Corey (Katie) Lehman, and Tana (David) Bostic; her grandchildren Amanda (Stephen) Szelis, Denise (Paul) Grote, Brittany Lehman, Kayla Bostic, Colin Wiblin, Roy Lehman III, Brandon Bostic, Cheyanne Lehman, Alan Bostic, Alyssa Lehman, Aaron Lehman, and Danica Bostic; and her great grandchildren TJ, Mason, Makenzie, Roy IV, Ylva, and Matilda; as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara's legacy lives on through her family. She is forever loved and will be deeply missed. Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy E. Lehman; her parents, Fred and Nola Cook; her siblings, Bob (Mary), Boyce, Erma (Wilton) Findley, Wendell, Garland (Barb), and Gary (Harriet). There is joy in knowing she is reunited with them all in Heaven. Barbara's Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Hoagland Community Center located at 11320 Hoagland Road, Hoagland, IN 46745. There will be a time of reflection from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a short service and a buffet style luncheon. Please wear purple on that day in honor and loving memory of Barbara.
