Barbara Pushis

Barbara Pushis, 81, of Darien, IL, passed away January 20, 2023, at Park Place Senior Living in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born October 3, 1941, in Kendallville, IN, the daughter of Walter and Mary Lou Uebler.

She graduated from Thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City, IL and earned her associates degree from Northwestern University. Barbara was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Darien, IL. Barbara taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years and was involved in many other volunteer groups at St. John Lutheran Church including quilt making. Barbara was passionate about assisting children and volunteered for several years with the Special Olympics. Barbara loved completing various crafts and was skilled at macrame and painting. She also enjoyed Sudoku and word search puzzles. Barbara loved spending time with her family, with her grandchildren being her pride and joy. Barbara is survived by her husband, David O. Pushis of Darien IL; children, Glenn (Kathy) Pushis of Leo, IN; Laura (Michael) Bratcher of Dyer, IN; Neil (Jeanne) Pushis of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Sarah Witte, Ashley Pushis, Emily Naylor, Robert Pushis, and Hailey Pushis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Uebler Jr. Memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church, 7214 S Cass Avenue, Darien, IL with visitation one hour prior.
