Belanda Ann (Carpenter) Hitzfield, 79, of Roanoke, IN, was received into God’s eternal kingdom on August 25, 2020. She was born on March 20, 1941, in Ft. Wayne to Dewey Jacob and Thelma Jane Fisher Carpenter. She was a wonderful homemaker. She married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Lee Hitzfield, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Billy; and her sisters, Mary Ellen Kreigh and Phyllis Joann Kreigh. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Clayton) Albertson; son, Brad (Bea); six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Belanda served her Lord and Savior by raising a Christian family, studying God’s word, and generously giving her time in the gardens at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren feeding the fish in her pond, baking endless amounts of Christmas cookies and candies in her kitchen, and by attending their soccer games and tennis matches. She enjoyed being a member of The Gab Club, a social group of six ladies, that gathered once/month for over 40 years. And how she loved cutting the grass on her ride-a-mower! A private family service and burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Dr., Ft. Wayne, IN 46819. Brad and Melinda,

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I did not know your mom well, but I remember Aunt Belanda being a sweet and kind person. Peace be with her and you both. I'm sure Great Grandpa and Grandma Carpenter, Nanny and Aunt Phyllis are sad for the family she left behind in this world, but I know they're happy to all be together again.

Thinking of you both,

Todd E. Kreigh

It was always u nusual for me to call her "Aunt" as she was 4 years my junior. My mother(Mary Ellen) and my Granda
Ma had babies 3weeka apart. My brother, Sammy and Belanda were in the same class with me 4 years their senior. All of my years included Belanda. Her struggle with the terrible illness that fobs us of our minds was her cross to bare. I will mis her,I will have her in my heart and I will look forward to seeing her again in the next world. I end my love and condolences to Melinda and Brad.
